Frequently asked questions
Common questions about this map and the breweries on it.
What is Brewery World Map?
Brewery World Map is a free, interactive world map of every breweries, built entirely from open OpenStreetMap data. Click any point for a photo, a description and the key facts.
Where does the data come from?
Every location is sourced from OpenStreetMap, the free, community-maintained map of the world. Photos and descriptions come from Wikipedia, Wikimedia Commons and Mapillary.
How often is the map updated?
The dataset is refreshed automatically from OpenStreetMap about once a month, so newly added or edited breweries show up without any manual work.
Is it free to use?
Yes. The map is completely free to browse, and the underlying data is open under the Open Database License (ODbL).
How do I find a specific place?
Open the map and use the search box to filter by name or country, or browse by country from the home page.
A breweries is missing — can I add it?
Absolutely, and we'd love you to. Add it directly to OpenStreetMap — it's free and open — and it will appear here at the next monthly refresh.
Something is wrong or in the wrong place. How do I report it?
Because the data lives in OpenStreetMap, the quickest fix is a short note there. A local mapper reviews it and the correction flows back to this map automatically.
Can I use the data for my own project?
Yes, under the OpenStreetMap ODbL license — just credit "OpenStreetMap contributors". Photos and text keep their original Wikipedia and Wikimedia licenses.
Why don't some places have a photo or description?
We only show a photo or description when one is available from Wikipedia, Wikimedia Commons or Mapillary. Many breweries simply haven't been documented there yet.
How can I get in touch?
Use the contact link in the footer or on the About page — we're always glad to hear feedback, corrections and ideas.
